Every year there are about 14,000 women, diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than 7000 people die of cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer can be prevented by screening or early detection. ThinPrep Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) -HPV examination is recommended for women of childbearing age (20-40 years) who are married or sexually active.
Compared with the PAP Smear, LBC-HPV has a higher level of sensitivity (close to 100%) because in addition to seeing pre-cancerous lesions, LBC-HPV also detects the presence of the HPV virus which is the cause of cervical cancer.
Before doing the examination, the patient is advised not to use tampons and not to have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before the examination, not to use feminine antiseptics and drugs that are inserted into the vagina for two days before the examination because they can affect the results of the examination. In addition, examinations should also be carried out when you are not menstruating.
